2022.01.28 09:00 Anna-Luna 4 months in and feeling better than ever

Whoot, Whoot, I'm 4 months in today! Proud of myself and secretly hoping this time it'll stick.
I have a lot more énergy, feel more focused. I started a lot of new projects of which the biggest one is going to university again.
This attempt is different from previous attempts in the way I analyse my cravings now: what happened? What am I feeling? What am I thinking? What is my reaction? By doing this, I make a space between the craving and my reaction on the craving, making it more easy to find a constructive way to deal with the craving. And what I noticed is that the cravings come further apart and subside more easily.
Nevertheless, I'm still going to AA and my therapist and take all the help I can get.
Have a nice day everyone and IWNDWYT.

2022.01.28 09:00 ORNG_MIRRR Can a man wear a black shirt to a wedding?

As the title says really. I've been to a bunch of weddings and always been told (by family / partners) that I have to wear a white / light shirt. The last one I went to a few people had black shirts on and no one seemed to care, but there wasn't really a dress code at that.
So yeah, black shirt at a wedding. Yes or no, and why?

2022.01.28 09:00 NimbleThor 5 Quick Tl;Dr Android Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 204)

It's Friday yet again, and that means it's time for episode 204 of my weekly mobile game recommendations based on the most interesting games I played and that were covered on MiniReview this week :) Welcome back.
Support these posts (and YouTube content + development of MiniReview) on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/NimbleThor <3
This episode includes an awesome strategy game perfectly ported from PC to mobile, an almost purr-fect arcade casual game with real-time PvP, a new arcade racing game, a humorous board strategy game, and an adventure game about a charismatic lawyer.
Disagree with my opinion? Let’s have a friendly discussion below.
New to these posts? Check out the first one from 204 weeks ago here.
Let's get to the games: Tropico [Game Size: 2.5 GB] ($11.99) Genre: Strategy / City-Building - Offline Playable
Orientation: Landscape
Required Attention: Some
tl;dr review by SugarRigby:
Tropico is a city-building simulation game in which we take on the role of a newly elected "El Presidente", the great ruler of the underdeveloped Caribbean island “Republica das Bananas”.
Beyond the standard city-building features, Tropico has us freely control El Presidente and rule the island as either a benevolent leader or hostile dictator, imposing laws, declaring policies, and using every dirty rule in the book to beat the game’s objectives before we run out of time and get deposed.
The game features a variety of levels with unique maps and fun objectives that range from making the population happy to turning the island into a tropical paradise for tourists, depositing enough stolen money into our Swiss bank account so that we can peacefully retire, and many others.
Tropico for mobile is a port of Tropico 3 for PC, and it runs smoothly, has nicely detailed environments, and a great sound design. The primary downside is that the UI feels a bit too big, and the controls take some time to get used to. The publisher, Feral Interactive, is also known to officially support only a small list of devices, so it's crucial to verify if your phone is compatible before buying.
At the end of the day, Tropico is an easy pick for any city-building simulation fan, and although it costs $11.99, it occasionally goes on sale for only $2,99. On Android, there’s also a free demo version you can use to test device compatibility.

Cat Jump [Total Game Size: 298 MB] (free) Genre: Arcade / Casual - Offline + Online Playable
Orientation: Portrait
Required Attention: Full
tl;dr review by CaptainQQ:
Cat Jump is an addicting casual arcade game where we jump from side to side of a tower to collect coins, save our friends, and prepare food – all while defeating bosses or even defeating our friends in real-time PvP.
We play as a cat who can triple jump, cling on to walls, and survive being shot out of a cannon, which are abilities we use in the main game mode to scale an infinitely tall tower while avoiding death traps and gathering as many collectibles as possible.
Unlike most simple casual games of this type, Cat Jump features multiple other game modes as well, like a cooking mode where the collectibles are replaced with various ingredients that must be gathered in a certain order or a boss mode where we dodge an enemy cat while grabbing items to damage it.
The controls are tight, but the levels are deviously full of traps, making the gameplay challenging. While the music can get a little repetitive, we can, fortunately, collect many different level designs, which change up the hazards, music, and even the menu screen. There are also dozens of adorable cat characters to collect that range from princess cats to Squid Game-themed cats, each of which is full of personality and has a unique third-jump animation.
The level designs and most cats are bought with in-game currency that we can buy more of through iAPs, but since they’re purely cosmetic, they do not give any advantage. The only other iAP is a $2.99 purchase to remove the banners and short full-screen ads that often play after a game, but we can still watch incentivized ads to claim various rewards.
Cat Jump is one of those rare arcade games that is simple, maddeningly addictive, near Purr-fect, and belongs in the same immortal genre as Flappy Bird.

Pako 3 [Game Size: 260 MB] (Free) Genre: Arcade / Racing - Offline Playable
Orientation: Landscape
Required Attention: Full
tl;dr review by NimbleThor:
PAKO 3 is the latest entry in the popular cop-escape arcade racing series, and it moves away from the “survive as long as you can” endless nature of its predecessors, opting instead for a level-based system that introduces various game modes and objectives.
Each level features a unique map and is unlocked by gathering stars from completing objectives in previous levels, such as surviving for a certain number of seconds or finishing races fast enough.
Most levels have us escape the cops in a relatively small map - with more cops appearing the longer we survive - while other modes feature races against vehicles on a racetrack. Meanwhile, we gather gold by making other cars explode, which we then use to buy new vehicles with better stats.
PAKO is difficult to review because everyone has different expectations for the series, with some preferring the hardcore first game and others loving PAKO 2’s open-world mission-based system. PAKO 3 lands somewhere in-between. It isn’t open-world, but it features more game modes and maps than the first PAKO game and includes a health bar that makes it less hardcore.
What has remained the same throughout the series is its wacky and humorous gameplay, which in PAKO 3 presents itself through power-ups that spawn around the map, such as machine guns, airstrikes, or handy slow-motion effects.
The art-style is simple but has a certain gritty appeal to it, the touch controls have us simply tap the left or right side to steer, and there is even Bluetooth controller support.
PAKO 3 monetizes through relatively frequent ads, although these can be removed through a single $2.99 iAP. I personally enjoyed the new experience the game delivered, and I think you might as well - as long as you don't expect it to be the same as PAKO 2.

The Captain is Dead [Game Size: 307 MB] ($9.99) Genre: Board / Strategy - Offline Playable
Orientation: Landscape
Required Attention: Full
tl;dr review by Pete McD:
The Captain Is Dead is a great adaptation of a turn-based strategy board game where we must desperately keep things together to avoid a horrible death. The only issue? We find ourselves in a spaceship under attack from aliens where everything is on fire and the captain indeed is dead.
Thankfully, we have a crew of up to six members that we use to fix parts of the ship, deal with invaders, decode the dead captain’s log, and generally try to stop everything from blowing up. In between each turn, there’s an alert – and if we’re really unlucky, a Red Alert – informing us about the next thing that is about to go wrong. And there are a lot of things that can go wrong….
Each crew member has different abilities and limited actions to take each turn, which makes it extremely hard to win even on the easier settings. There is definitely a roguelike vibe here and a lot of figuring out the gameplay by ourselves. It takes many failures before getting to grips with just the basics, but I loved this as it added to the chaos.
The voice acting is hilarious and the graphics are very retro, although it may be hard to see details on a small screen. This is a single-player game, which is unusual for an adaptation of a multiplayer board game, but it’s a sensible decision in this case, as it means the fast pace of the game doesn’t get interrupted by having to wait for others to take their turn.
The Captain is Dead is a $9.99 premium title with no ads or IAPs. The steep learning curve and high difficulty may put some players off, but although I have not won a single game to date, I have loved every minute of playing it.

Devil's Attorney [Game Size: 368 MB] ($4.99) Genre: Strategy / Casual - Offline Playable
Orientation: Landscape
Required Attention: Some
tl;dr review by AlexSem:
Devil's Attorney is a fun adventure game about a charismatic lawyer waging fierce battles in the courtroom using his unsurpassable eloquence and various questionable methods.
The game consists of a series of turn-based battles in which we spend action points to use humorous skills, such as “objection” and “ego boost”, against our opponents: a prosecutor and his witness and evidence. Our goal is to reduce each opponent’s health points to zero by dealing direct damage while at the same time providing enough defenses for our own character.
Successfully winning a battle and accomplishing optional achievements grant us money we can use to buy furniture for our house, which in turn unlocks new skills and improves existing ones.
While the gameplay itself is neither too complex nor deep, it’s in the inter-battle story dialogues that this game truly shines. Our attorney constantly picks the most obvious villains to defend in the court and comes up with the most ridiculous stories to plead their innocence. His caustic conversations and long-running relationships with various prosecutors is a match made in heaven, and it creates one of the most hilarious experiences I’ve had on mobile.
Devil's Attorney is sold for $4.99 without ads or iAPs. Despite being rather short and too simple at times, it can still be highly entertaining for anyone fond of high-quality casual mobile games.

2022.01.28 09:00 AlisterSinclair2002 Gotta love how the worst drivers you've ever seen all appear out of the woodwork the moment you start your driving lesson

Never before have I seen worse driving than when I, as an untrained novice of the wheel, was quivering in the front seat. And these weren't exactly missable things, I would have seen them even if I had been sleeping in the boot, but they all happened during my driving lessons lmao.
- First time I ever drove on a road with a speed limit above 30, a bloke beside me changed lanes without looking and bashed into the back wheel of a motorcyclist (no helmet), sending him sliding in front of my car.
- I was going down a main road with a bunch of traffic lights on it, and just as I was pulling up to the queue waiting for the lights to change, an absolute genius of vehicle maneuvering decided to pull in front of me. Not from my lane, no, he crossed over two separate lanes from the lane going the other way and became jammed with his front bumper a few inches from mine, and never actually tried to move, forcing me to merge into the lane to my right under supervision of my teacher.
- Was driving down a very hilly and narrow country lane, with hedgerows either side, practicing emergency braking. I needed to use my new skill a lot sooner than I anticipated, as just as I was driving up to the end of this very thin road, a 10-wheeler truck taller than the cottages either side of me came round the corner at about 38mph, on a 20mph road.
- BMW driver on the motorway in front of me realised he was driving down the wrong exit road, so simply turned to the right, drove over roughly 6 meters of hatching and merged into the 60mph traffic in the middle lane on which I was driving.
Anyone else remember having moments like these on driving lessons?
